Our Approach & Philosophy

Understanding You, Not Just Your Symptoms

At Heartwood, we believe therapy should go beyond managing symptoms—it should help you understand yourself more deeply. Your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors don’t exist in isolation; they are shaped by your experiences, your relationships, and the patterns you’ve developed over time.

Emotionally Focused, Evidence-Based Care

Our work is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps uncover the emotional patterns beneath distress. We integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to provide practical tools that support real, everyday change. This combination allows us to address both the “why” behind your experiences and the “how” to move forward.

The Power of Connection

We believe that healing happens in the context of safe, supportive relationships—including the one you build in therapy. Whether you’re working through anxiety, depression, ADHD, or relationship challenges, our focus is on helping you feel seen, understood, and supported as you navigate change.

Lasting, Meaningful Change

Our goal isn’t quick fixes—it’s lasting transformation. By increasing emotional awareness, strengthening coping skills, and shifting unhelpful patterns, we help you create meaningful change that carries into your daily life and relationships.

Partners

At Heartwood, we collaborate with trusted organizations to provide thoughtful, high-quality care. We partner with Mindful Therapy Group for streamlined scheduling and access to care, and utilize assessment tools through Creyos to support comprehensive ADHD and cognitive evaluations.
